Introduction to Design Thinking

September 25 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This is the first of seven weeks of programming for the fall cohort of 25 students from CBU/NSCC.  The purpose of week one is to get students to know each other because many will be from different programs and regions around the globe.  The workshops are designed to cover a background of the topic area and its’ history combined with an experiential component to reinforce the theory.

Design Thinking (or Human-centred Design) is a design and management framework that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process. Human involvement typically takes place in observing the problem within context, brainstorming, conceptualizing, developing, and implementing the solution.

Lastly, since we are going to be with each other for almost 20 hours this semester there is a requirement to have fun!  To assist with that notion we will be live-streaming parts of our sessions with 25 students located at the Dalhousie Agriculture campus in Truro.  The folks at DAL Ag (aka Cultiv8 Sandbox) will be part of our Design Challenge Weekend in November.
